It all started with a dream—and 27 years of hard work. Like the story in Working Girl, Mercedes began her journey as a local waitress, moving from restaurant to restaurant across Venice Beach and Marina del Rey. Along the way, she absorbed everything she could about the hospitality world. That dedication paid off—today, she’s a proud, self-made business owner, Executive Chef, and the driving force behind the enduring success of Mercedes Bar & Grille.

With family roots in Kauai and a deep love for the Hawaiian culture, cuisine, and lifestyle, Mercedes always envisioned bringing the spirit of the islands to Southern California. Thanks to support from her family—especially her mother—she made it happen.

For over 20 years, Mercedes Bar & Grille has been a neighborhood favorite, known for its nouveau Latin cuisine—a colorful fusion of flavors from Hawaii, Brazil, the Caribbean, Cuba, Mexico, Jamaica, Spain, Portugal, and beyond. From spicy dishes to sweet tropical plates, it’s a vibrant culinary experience like no other.
